Funding round announced in Helsinki
Satellite manufacturer Hongqing Technology, which operates under the launch company Landspace, disclosed that it has raised approximately $191 million in a financing round announced from Helsinki. The amount places the round among the biggest single investments for a Chinese commercial satellite enterprise.
Investors and intended use
The round was led by a consortium of international investors, including venture capital firms and strategic partners from the space sector. The proceeds are earmarked for expanding production capacity, advancing satellite technology, and broadening the company’s global sales efforts.
Strategic implications
As the manufacturing arm of Landspace, Hongqing plays a central role in building satellites for a range of applications such as Earth observation, communications and scientific missions. The new funding bolsters the firm’s market position and aligns with China’s broader goal of establishing a comprehensive commercial space ecosystem.
Future plans
With the additional capital, Hongqing intends to modernise its production lines, develop next‑generation satellite platforms offering higher performance and shorter delivery times, and expand its customer base beyond Asia to secure more contracts from international operators.
