The Beijing‑based startup Xingchen Daohe has closed a financing round of about US$14 million to develop a space situational awareness (SSA) satellite constellation. The funds will be used to design, build and launch a series of small satellites capable of monitoring orbital objects.
The constellation aims to improve the detection and cataloguing of debris, active satellites and other orbital bodies, thereby supporting safer operations for both governmental and commercial spacecraft.
China’s SSA sector is expanding rapidly, with a mix of state‑backed programs and private initiatives investing in space‑situational awareness. Xingchen Daohe’s funding round highlights the growing interest of private capital in this domestic market.
Globally, an increasing number of commercial firms are pursuing SSA capabilities as congestion in low‑Earth orbit raises collision risks. Reliable tracking data is becoming a critical asset for collision avoidance, mission planning and national security.
Although the startup has not disclosed an exact launch schedule, it says prototype hardware is already under development and that the constellation could reach initial operational capability within the next few years.
