Listening instead of looking: a new path to the skies
The European Space Agency (ESA) has introduced a podcast production that makes the cosmos perceptible through sound. Rather than presenting astronomical phenomena visually, scientific datasets are converted into audio. These so-called sonifications form the core of the programme.
The series is hosted by Zsófi Szalavári. The presenter guides listeners on an auditory journey that starts at the centre of our solar system and reaches into remote parts of the universe. Along the way, findings from ESA science missions and their space telescopes are discussed.
