Virtual briefing on the Moon base program
On Tuesday, June 30, at 2:30 p.m. EDT, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman will host an online discussion to outline the progress of the agency's effort to establish a permanent lunar outpost.
Joining him will be Carlos García‑Galán, the Moon Base program manager, who will help detail recent milestones and preview the next round of contracts for lunar lander missions.
The session will focus on the criteria for the upcoming award cycle, which aims to select multiple modular landers capable of conducting scientific experiments and supporting infrastructure tasks.
Attendees will also receive a preview of key technologies under development, such as autonomous construction robots, in‑situ resource utilization (ISRU) systems, and advanced communication networks designed to sustain long‑term operations on the Moon.
NASA intends to land the first base modules in the late 2020s, and this briefing marks a pivotal step in finalising partner selections and mission objectives for the next phase of lunar exploration.
