Arrival at the Spaceport
On June 21, 2026, NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope was delivered to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida aboard the agency’s Pegasus barge, marking the start of its final pre‑launch processing.
Transfer and Initial Processing
After off‑loading, the telescope was moved to the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility, where it will undergo integration of scientific instruments, safety inspections, and other necessary preparations.
Target Launch Date
The mission is slated for launch on August 30, 2026, the earliest possible window, pending weather conditions and final system checks.
Scientific Importance
Named after NASA’s first Hubble program director, the Roman Telescope will observe the universe in the near‑infrared and visible spectrum, addressing key questions about dark energy, exoplanets, and cosmic structure.
Upcoming Milestones
In the weeks ahead, additional testing and payload integration will be completed before the telescope is transferred to the launch pad for final integration with its launch vehicle.
