New trade body for NGSO operators established
A coalition of companies that operate non‑geostationary satellites (NGSO) has created a dedicated trade association. The organization aims to represent the interests of a rapidly expanding sector.
Founding members include Amazon alongside several other operators that run constellations in low‑Earth orbit (LEO) and medium‑Earth orbit (MEO). The association will serve as a forum for sharing best practices, coordinating regulatory matters, and developing common technical standards.
Notably, SpaceX, which runs the world’s largest NGSO constellation, is not part of the group and has not indicated any intention to join.
In the coming months the association intends to draft position papers for regulators and policymakers, and to set up regular meetings and working groups to tackle technical and operational challenges collectively.
Industry analysts view the launch as a sign that the NGSO market is maturing and seeking greater cohesion to address competition from both established and emerging players.
