Search for extraterrestrial signals in the radio spectrum
Researchers around the globe scan the sky for possible technosignatures that might indicate an intelligent extraterrestrial civilization. Most surveys concentrate on a few frequency bands considered especially promising.
A recent suggestion points out that parts of the radio spectrum that have been scarcely observed could harbor hidden signals. These gaps arise because earlier observations focused resources on established channels and rarely included weakly occupied bands.
