The United States Space Command is increasing its presence in Alabama as part of an ongoing headquarters relocation. More than 100 staff members have already moved to Redstone Arsenal.
Relocation Progress
The move reflects a broader effort to consolidate Space Command’s headquarters functions at the Arsenal. Officials say the personnel are being integrated into existing facilities while preparations for further expansion continue.
Upcoming Facility
In tandem with the relocation, work on a new billion‑dollar Space Command facility is poised to start. The project is expected to break ground soon, pending final approvals and site readiness.
Once completed, the installation will enhance the command’s space situational awareness and mission support capabilities, while also providing economic benefits to the surrounding region.
