A research effort directed by the University of Cambridge suggests that the financial burden of sending cargo beyond Earth's atmosphere is set to ease substantially in the near future. According to the team's projections, the expenditure required to place material into orbit will decrease to less than half of current levels by the close of this decade.
Looking further ahead, the analysts estimate a far steeper decline: by the year 2040, the cost of reaching orbital space may be roughly 93 percent lower than today. Such a shift would markedly broaden access to space activities for both public institutions and private operators.
