Tesla prepares Optimus launch in its smartphone app
Recent code fragments discovered in the Tesla application indicate that the company is taking initial steps to integrate the humanoid robot Optimus. The findings suggest that preparations for a possible market launch are already underway.
Developers identified several previously unseen strings in the latest version of the app that refer to functions such as “Optimus control”, “robot mode” and “assistant setup”. These strings had not appeared in earlier builds and are interpreted by observers as a sign of an imminent activation.
Elon Musk has repeatedly described Optimus as the potentially best‑selling product of all time. In various remarks he has stressed that the robot could one day be used in homes and industry, thereby opening a substantial market.
Although no concrete dates have been given, the uncovered code elements show that Tesla is laying the technical foundation for a future enablement within the app. Users might later be able to configure the robot, receive updates or test early interactions through the application.
This work fits into Tesla’s broader strategy of embedding AI and robotics capabilities into its ecosystem. By doing so, the company links its vehicle platform with new services surrounding autonomous systems.
