New software package launched
Today Tesla announced the availability of Full Self-Driving (FSD) version 14, labeled “Lite”, for cars equipped with the third‑generation Autopilot hardware (HW3) and AI chip (AI3). The update targets owners of earlier Tesla models that previously had limited autonomous features.
Added capabilities
Key enhancements include a refined city‑navigation system, expanded lane‑change assistance, and an adaptive cruise control that reacts more quickly in dense traffic. The suite also introduces autonomous parking and improved detection of construction zones.
Roll‑out and installation
The update will be delivered via Tesla’s standard over‑the‑air (OTA) mechanism and is expected to install within a few hours after activation. Tesla advises users to connect to a stable Wi‑Fi network during the download.
Future outlook
By releasing FSD v14 ‘Lite’, Tesla continues its incremental approach of bringing advanced driver‑assist features to its entire fleet before achieving full, unsupervised autonomy. Further software revisions are planned, leveraging accumulated driving data to deliver additional improvements.
