Trump interrupts NASA press conference
On August 30, former President Donald Trump called into a NASA press conference to congratulate the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope team on the successful launch of the observatory.
The Roman Space Telescope, formerly known as WFIRST, is a space‑based observatory designed to conduct infrared and near‑infrared observations to study dark energy, exoplanets and infrared astrophysics.
During Trump’s presidency his administration repeatedly proposed budget cuts for the program, creating uncertainty about the mission’s future.
Despite these challenges the telescope was ultimately launched, and NASA highlighted the importance of international cooperation and scientific progress.
Scientists anticipate that the Roman Space Telescope will deliver new data that will expand our understanding of the universe and inform future missions.
