Development milestones achieved
Vast Space reports that several critical milestones for its modular Haven-1 space station have been reached in recent months. Completion of the core habitat module, integration of life‑support systems, and successful ground‑based testing represent essential progress toward a launch scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
Technical advancements
The station features a reusable docking interface designed for both crewed and uncrewed missions. Its life‑support suite, developed in partnership with a European consortium, is intended to provide autonomous air, water and food recycling for up to four astronauts over multi‑month durations.
Partnerships and funding
Vast Space collaborates with the European Space Agency (ESA), NASA and several commercial partners to secure the necessary infrastructure and resources. Project financing combines private capital, governmental grants and commercial contracts.
Launch outlook
A medium‑lift launch vehicle is being targeted for the 2027 flight, with a European spaceport slated as the launch site. The precise launch window will be defined after final certification and regulatory approvals are completed.
Planned mission objectives
- Validate long‑duration habitation in microgravity
- Conduct scientific experiments in biology and materials science
- Demonstrate on‑orbit services such as maintenance and repair
