ISS Antenna Replacement Completed
On Tuesday, August 25, NASA astronaut Anil Menon and ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot carried out a spacewalk lasting approximately six hours and thirty minutes.
During the EVA they removed the existing Space‑to‑Ground antenna and installed a replacement unit on the exterior of the International Space Station.
The new antenna is intended to improve the station’s communications links with ground facilities, enhancing the downlink of scientific data and video feeds.
Both crew members had previously undergone extensive training in neutral‑buoyancy pools and virtual‑reality simulators to master the intricate tasks required in microgravity.
