Curiosity Marks 14th Anniversary of Mars Landing
On August 7, 2026 the mission team on Earth celebrated the 14th anniversary of the Curiosity rover’s successful touchdown on Mars.
The rover landed on August 6, 2012 inside Gale Crater and has since been studying the planet’s geology and climate.
Over the years Curiosity has found evidence of ancient lakes, organic molecules and measured the radiation environment on the surface.
The instruments remain healthy and the team plans additional drilling and analysis of rock layers to better understand Mars’ habitable past.
