New Leadership Appointments at the European Space Agency
The European Space Agency (ESA) Council has officially confirmed the selection of two senior executives. Christine Klein will head the Controlling, Finance and Operational Procurement division, while Jean‑Luc Trullemans will lead Strategy, Legal and External Affairs.
In her new role, Klein is responsible for financial oversight, budgeting and the procurement of goods and services essential to ESA’s day‑to‑day operations. Her mandate includes streamlining budget processes and ensuring transparent use of agency funds.
Trullemans, as director of Strategy, Legal and External Affairs, will shape the agency’s long‑term direction. His portfolio covers the formulation of strategic policies, provision of legal counsel and management of relationships with external partners and stakeholders.
The appointments are part of a broader organisational realignment aimed at boosting efficiency and innovation across ESA’s programmes. Both leaders bring extensive experience from the European space sector and from multinational projects.
ESA officials indicated that the new directors will help prepare the agency for upcoming missions, including lunar and Martian initiatives as well as the continued development of satellite infrastructure.
