90th‑Anniversary Celebration
In honor of its nine‑decade milestone, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) will host an open‑house event called "Explore JPL" on October 10 and 11, running from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. PDT at its campus nestled at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California.
Program and Thematic Zones
Attendees can explore four curated areas: "Missions That Changed the World", "Moon to Mars", "Robotics and AI", and "Future Technologies". Each zone features original hardware, interactive exhibits, and short talks that trace the evolution of space exploration from early probes to present‑day projects.
On‑Site Highlights
Guided tours will include the Deep Space Network facility, the Mars Science Laboratory, and the historic mission control center that oversaw the Voyager and Mars rover programs. Scientists and engineers will be on hand to answer questions.
