Collaboration aims to automate orbital collision protection
Space‑surveillance company Look Up announced that it will integrate Skynopy’s global ground‑station network into its planned low‑Earth‑orbit (LEO) collision‑avoidance service. The goal is to provide satellite operators with timely, reliable alerts about possible conjunctions.
Skynopy operates a worldwide array of ground stations that receive and process telemetry from satellites. By leveraging this infrastructure, Look Up can continuously monitor orbital parameters and automatically identify high‑risk approaches.
The partnership is expected to shorten response times and reduce the need for manual intervention. Both firms stress that automation is essential for safely managing the rapidly increasing number of objects in LEO.
The agreement was disclosed on 17 June. The companies argue that combining Look Up’s expertise in space situational awareness with Skynopy’s ground‑segment capabilities creates a solid foundation for a commercial‑grade service.
The offering will target operators of large constellations as well as owners of individual spacecraft seeking to safeguard their missions from unintended collisions. Further details on rollout and pricing are slated for release in the coming months.
