New Partner for the Artemis Accords
The Republic of Mauritius has joined the international framework promoting responsible exploration of outer space. The island nation is now the 70th party to the Artemis Accords and the seventh from the African continent to endorse the principles.
The formal signing event took place on Friday in the city of Ébène. Matt Anderson, the Deputy Administrator of the US space agency, provided recorded video remarks for the occasion. He stated that it was an honor to welcome Mauritius into the group of participating states.
Significance of the Step
The Artemis Accords were established to provide a shared foundation for the peaceful and open use of space. Mauritius joining the initiative expands the agreement's footprint in Africa and reflects the growing global support for its guidelines.
