Launch Preparations
MTG‑I2 is currently in its launch campaign, undergoing a series of final inspections.
Once these checks are complete, the satellite will be installed inside the fairing of the Ariane 6 launch vehicle.
Technical Specifications
With a mass of approximately 3800 kilograms, the spacecraft falls into the mid‑range class of European weather observation platforms.
It is part of the Meteosat Third Generation family and is designed to deliver high‑resolution imagery of the Earth’s atmosphere.
Launch Timing
The launch is scheduled for the end of summer, after the fairing is sealed and the rocket is rolled to the launch pad.
Expected Benefits
The enhanced data are expected to improve the accuracy of weather forecasts for Europe and North Africa.
