NASA Launches Request for Lunar Enabling Infrastructure Accelerator
The United States space agency reaffirmed its commitment to a lasting lunar presence following the recent Artemis II mission, which successfully orbited the Moon with a crew aboard.
To speed up the development of essential technologies, NASA has issued a public feedback request for the Lunar Enabling Infrastructure Accelerator (LEIA). The initiative invites contractors, research institutions and other stakeholders to propose modular solutions covering power generation, habitat construction, and communications networks.
The agency stresses that securing funding and technical expertise for such infrastructure is critical for the next phase of the Artemis program, which aims at establishing a sustainable foothold on the lunar surface. The call targets the broader aerospace sector as well as firms in energy, construction and telecommunications.
Responses and concept submissions are accepted until the announced deadline. Collected input will inform the design of future funding mechanisms and contract awards, accelerating the rollout of lunar infrastructure capabilities.
