Plato passes critical tests ahead of spaceflight
The European Space Agency ESA announced that its Plato spacecraft has finished critical testing. This milestone is required before the vehicle can proceed to its spaceflight.
During the test campaign, all spacecraft subsystems were exposed to conditions simulating the space environment to identify and resolve any potential issues.
The successful completion of these tests shows that Plato is now nearer to its planned launch date. The teams can continue with launch preparations and final checks.
Plato's mission is to detect and characterize exoplanets orbiting nearby stars. With testing done, the project advances toward delivering its scientific data.
