A new window on the cosmos
The Rubin Observatory in Chile has commenced the Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), a decade‑long program that will systematically image the sky, capturing billions of galaxies, stars and transient phenomena.

Equipped with an 8.4‑meter primary mirror and a 3.2‑gigapixel camera, the LSST will revisit every visible portion of the sky roughly every three nights. The survey aims to shed light on dark matter, dark energy and galaxy formation.
