The Spanish government announced it will earmark between 1.6 and 2 billion euros (approximately 1.8 to 2.3 billion US dollars) for the development of a national military satellite communications system.
The funding is intended to support the creation of a dedicated communications constellation that will serve the IRIS² programme.
The statement was made in Warsaw, Poland, where Spanish officials outlined the financial commitment.
Through this investment Spain aims to enhance its defence communications capabilities while contributing to the broader IRIS² effort.
