Multiple Raptor Engines Failed to Fire
On Thursday, SpaceX was forced to call off the thirteenth test flight of its Starship vehicle when a portion of the propulsion system did not operate as expected. At the defined moment of launch, four of the Raptor engines mounted on the booster did not commence combustion, making a controlled departure impossible.
The interruption took place exactly at T-zero, the scheduled instant for liftoff. Because the required thrust was not achieved across all primary engines, range safety and flight control personnel enacted a hold before any movement off the pad occurred. The countdown was therefore terminated without the vehicle leaving the ground.
Company Leader Confirms Cause
Following the unsuccessful attempt, Elon Musk, the chief executive of the space company, provided a public statement identifying the technical fault. He attributed the scrub to the failure of the four engines to ignite at the critical time. No revised schedule or details on corrective measures have yet been disclosed by the organization.
