Second stage arrives at Stennis
Relativity Space has delivered the second stage of its heavy‑lift Terran R vehicle to the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The facility will serve as the hub for integration, testing and final preparation ahead of the rocket’s inaugural flight.
Progress in the development schedule
This relocation represents a milestone in the multi‑year program that targets an operational launch in 2026. Ongoing activities include structural load testing and validation of the propulsion system.
Technical highlights of the second stage
- Extensive use of 3D‑printed metal parts to reduce mass.
- A new reusable engine, similar to the Raptor, designed for multiple flights.
- Integrated avionics with autonomous flight‑control capabilities.
Looking ahead to the maiden flight
The first launch of Terran R is scheduled for the second quarter of 2026 from Stennis. Relativity intends to use the vehicle for heavy payloads to low‑Earth orbit as well as for lunar and Martian missions.
