Introducing New Quality Controls
Lars Moravy, Tesla's Vice President of Engineering, explained that the company is using the microphones already installed in its vehicles to monitor production quality. By analysing the sounds generated during assembly, irregularities can be spotted before the car leaves the factory.
How Acoustic Analysis Works
The microphones capture vibrations and clicks that may indicate loose parts, improper fastenings, or misaligned components. Artificial intelligence processes these audio signals in real time and alerts line workers to any deviations.

Tesla intends to expand the system to monitor battery modules and drivetrain components as well. Combining audio with visual data aims to achieve near‑zero defect rates in future production cycles.
